Vertical Transportation

Addressing building systems inadequacies of early and mid 20th Century facilities increasingly calls for the evaluation and modernization of ageing vertical transportation systems. TBA's experience with buildings of all types and historical contexts facilitates our ability to fit our designs to specific program requirements. We have successfully managed vertical transportation projects for retrofits, adaptive reuse and modernization projects as well as new system installations. Past and current projects involve modernizing, retrofitting/installing all components of each system including drive motors, DC motor generators, signal and motion controls for the passenger units, updating or adjusting freight unit finishes, modernizing the passenger hoistways, car door equipment, operating fixtures and cab interiors; and renovating or installing machine room and elevator pit utilities and interiors to meet Code requirements.
